If you don’t know Heather Ackley yet, listen up. You’re about to. Based out of Salt Lake City, 29 year old Ackley creates detailed portraits of everything from pets and animals to popular characters straight out of geek royalty.
Aside from being an amazingly talented up and comer, she also happens to be a delightful human being.
I am lucky enough to own a personalized commission from Heather herself, and am proud to know her personally. It just so happens that this Friday, May 16, 2014, hip downtown boutique Mod-a-go-go is putting on a solo show of her work. And you should probably be there. The show is from 6pm-9pm and will feature for-sale originals and giclée prints of her stunning paintings. So, head downtown and meet one of Salt Lake City’s most promising local artists before she blows up and is too important to talk to you.
Trust me, you won’t regret it. Whether you make it or not, at least check her out at www.heatherackleyart.com and follow her on Instagram and Facebook. See you there, kids.
Artist Biography: Heather started out as a kid who filled notebooks with doodles and occasionally had the courage to paint with acrylics. She acquired a degree in Graphic Design and focused primarily on layout, typography and identity design. She then spent 4 years as a greeting card writer and designer.
Asked by a friend to oil paint her two dogs, Heather gave it a shot and found that she deeply enjoyed it (and wasn’t too shabby!)
Heather spends her days doing pet portrait commissions, geek-themed paintings and freelance graphic design.
