Listen: Sisyphus, "Take Me"
8Overall Score
Sisyphus is Sufjan Stevens’s new art-pop trio with unlikely collaborators: Son Lux and Serengeti. “Take Me” is one of my favorite tracks from this project. It’s is a seductive and mellow little number that balances out the more ridiculous pieces. . . like the quasi-party-rap song “Booty Call” which, on its best day, is an utterly damn ridiculous song. “Take Me” however, is almost haunting in comparison with it’s lush synths, crooning distortion and earnest (albeit simplistic) lyrics. I’ve been overwhelmingly underwhelmed by this project, but there are a couple bright spots. . . just a couple. Check out “Take Me” above.
