The hidden gem in the entire Twilight Concert Series was Rapsody. Something of a mix between Lauryn Hill and MC Lyte. Rapsody was definitely an unexpected surprise for the night between local rappers, Better Taste Bureau, and headliner De La Soul.
This North Carolina native would have grown up “to be an accountant” had she not seen MC Lyte’s “Georgie Porgie” as a young girl. Her energy was high, her lyrics were clear, and she left the audience feeling like maybe they’ve been missing something for the past 10 years. Rapsody gets 5 SALT stars for being fresh, cool, and hypnotic.
